Privacy Policy
What this site collects, why, and how to get rid of it;
written to be read rather than agreed to.
Last updated 13 October 2026
We are a two-person design and development studio. We have no use for your personal data beyond answering you, so we collect as little of it as the site can function on, and we have never sold any of it.
The short version
- Fill in the contact form and we keep what you typed, so we can reply.
- Just read the site and we see anonymous traffic numbers through Google Analytics, plus the ordinary server log every web host keeps.
- We do not sell your data, rent it, trade it, or hand it to advertisers. There is no ad network on this site.
- Email hello@acorncreative.io and we will tell you what we hold about you, or delete it.
Who we are
Acorn Creative is a design and development studio operating this site at acorncreative.io. We are responsible for the personal information described here, and you can reach a human about any of it at hello@acorncreative.io.
What we collect, and when
When you use the contact form
The form asks for your name, your email address, what you need help with, and a note. All four reach us by email and are also stored in this site’s database so a message is not lost if the email is. Alongside them the form records the date and time and the IP address the message came from, which is what tells a real enquiry apart from the spam.
Nothing on the form is required beyond what we need to write back. If you would rather not type your details into a web page, email us directly instead.
When you just visit
Our web host keeps a standard server log of requests to the site: the page asked for, the time, your IP address, and your browser’s user agent. These logs exist to keep the site up and to investigate attacks. We do not use them to build any picture of you, and they are overwritten on the host’s own short cycle.
We also measure traffic with Google Analytics, which is covered on its own below.
If you have an account here
Accounts on this site exist only for us and for clients we have set one up for. Registration is closed to the public. If you have one, it holds the name and email address you gave us and whatever you choose to put in your profile, and you can see and change all of it when logged in.
Cookies
Reading this site sets no cookie from us. The only cookies that appear are these:
- Google Analytics sets its own cookies to count a return visit as the same visit rather than a new one. They expire on Google’s schedule and carry no name or address.
- Logging in sets WordPress’s session and preference cookies. They only appear for people with an account, and they are removed when you log out.
Blocking cookies in your browser, or using a tracker blocker, costs you nothing on this site. Everything still works.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people read and roughly where they came from. It reports in aggregate: page views, referrers, country, broad device type. We do not send it your name, your email address, or anything you typed into the form, and we have not turned on its advertising or remarketing features.
Google processes this data on our behalf and is bound by its own terms, which you can read at policies.google.com/privacy. If you would rather not be counted, Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Analytics everywhere: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Most content blockers stop it too.
What we do with it
We use what you send us to answer you, to quote on work, and to carry out work you have hired us for. We use the traffic numbers to decide what to write and what to fix. That is the whole list.
We do not add you to a mailing list because you used the contact form. If we ever start a newsletter, you will have to ask for it.
Who else sees it
A handful of companies handle this data in the course of running the site, and only for that purpose:
- Our web host, which stores the site, its database and its server logs.
- Our email provider, which carries form notifications to our inbox and our replies back out.
- Google, for the analytics described above.
Beyond that we disclose personal information only when the law requires it, or when you ask us to. We have never sold or shared personal information for money or for anyone else’s advertising, and we do not intend to start.
Client sites we look after
Much of our work is building and maintaining other people’s sites, which means we sometimes have access to data belonging to their visitors and customers. That data is theirs, not ours. We only touch it to do the job we were hired for, we do not copy it anywhere else, and the site’s own privacy policy governs it. If you are a visitor to a site we built, ask that site’s owner.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that went nowhere: deleted from the site’s database within a year.
- Enquiries that became work: kept with the project records for as long as we are working together, and afterwards for as long as our accountant and the tax rules require.
- Email: our correspondence with you stays in our mailbox unless you ask us to clear it out.
- Analytics: retained on Google’s shortest available setting.
Keeping it safe
The site runs over HTTPS, the admin area is behind two-factor authentication at a non-standard address, and the software is kept current. No site is unbreakable, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something; if a breach ever affected your information we would tell you rather than wait to be asked.
Your choices
Email hello@acorncreative.io and you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you;
- send you a copy of it;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete it, as far as we are allowed to.
We will reply within 30 days. There is no charge and no form to fill in, and we will not treat you any differently for asking. Depending on where you live, state law may give you these rights outright; we offer them to everyone regardless.
Children
This site is for people hiring a design studio, and nothing on it is aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change how the site handles your data, we change this page and move the date at the top. Material changes get a note here saying what moved, rather than a silent rewrite.
Getting in touch
Questions about any of this, or about something we hold, go to hello@acorncreative.io. The same two people who built the site answer that address.
